Cybersecurity firm Wiz has announced the launch of its European headquarters in London. The decision comes just weeks after Wiz turned down a $23 billion (£18 billion) takeover bid from Google’s parent company, Alphabet. With the establishment of its first European HQ, Wiz is positioning itself to strengthen its presence in the region and expand its services in the cloud security sector.

Driving Growth in a Global Tech Hub
The choice of London for the European headquarters is a significant nod to the UK’s status as a global technology hub. The new office will be led by Wiz co-founder and head of research and development, Roy Reznik, who is relocating from Israel to oversee the company’s ambitious expansion plans. According to Reznik:
“The UK is a region with many leading global brands and top tech talent, which is why we see it as key to the growth and expansion of Wiz.”
Wiz is set to increase its UK workforce by 100 employees by the end of this year, aiming to strengthen its engineering, research, and development capabilities. The company already employs several dozen UK-based staff, primarily in sales and marketing roles, but none have been based in a dedicated office until now. The new headquarters will play a crucial role in Wiz’s efforts to capture 35% of its total revenues from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) by the end of next year.

Wiz specializes in cloud security, offering services that scan data stored on major cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure for vulnerabilities and security risks. Its client roster includes notable UK brands like Asos, the Bank of England, and Revolut, as well as European powerhouses such as Shell, BMW, and luxury giant LVMH.
Reznik emphasized the potential for growth in this market:
“Organisations in this market are embracing the cloud and capitalising on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI). At the same time, with only 10% of data having migrated to the cloud so far, we see near limitless growth potential.”
Ambitious Revenue Targets and Future Prospects
Wiz’s move into the European market aligns with its ambitious growth targets. The company generated $350 million in annual revenue last year and is currently on track to reach $500 million this year. Looking ahead, Wiz has set its sights on hitting $1 billion in annual revenues, a milestone that could trigger strategic decisions such as an initial public offering (IPO). While a London listing has been ruled out, the company is preparing for a potential IPO in the United States.
The company’s rejection of Alphabet’s acquisition offer underlines its commitment to growth and independence, even in the face of lucrative opportunities.
